Apple just had released its fourth-quarter earnings report, and it was a particularly big one.
Notably, the company reported US$57.58 billion (about C$80.5 billion) in iPhone revenue, a 17 per cent jump from the same time last year. For context, this was achieved with a smaller-than-usual phone lineup.
Traditionally, Apple has launched the standard and premium versions of its phones in the same September window, but for this year’s iPhone 18 family, it only debuted the 18 Pro and Pro Max, as well as its first-ever foldable, the Duo. The base iPhone 18 has yet to be released, with reports suggesting it will come in early 2027 alongside the lower-cost 18e and Air 2.
In other words, Apple still managed to have a record iPhone quarter on the back of its more expensive phones. It’s also important to stress that the Duo, which starts at a whopping $3,000 in Canada, isn’t included in this report since its pre-orders and launch took place in October.
Overall, Apple reported US$114.5 billion (about C$160 billion) in revenue, marking a 12 percent increase. The Mac and services businesses grew during Q4, the latter of which actually reaching an all-time high of US$31.57 billion (about C$44.1 billion), although iPad revenue declined 10 per cent year-over-year.
Looking ahead to the next quarter, Apple has the aforementioned Duo and a new touchscreen MacBook. It will also be John Ternus’ first full quarter as CEO, as he took over from Apple veteran Tim Cook on Sept. 1.
