Apple’s iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3 and macOS 27.3 betas are now available, sporting several updates to Apple apps, like the Health app, and more.
But Safari is also getting a few notable upgrades, so let’s do a deep dive into what’s new with Safari.
Vertical Tabs
A new vertical layout for navigating and managing your tabs lets you maximize your space. The tabs on the side appear as icons so they take up less room, and hovering over the icon will show the name first, but hover a little longer and Safari will show a small preview of what’s open in that tab.
Vertical Tabs will be available on MacBook, iPad and the iPhone Duo. You can turn it on by heading to Safari settings on these platforms.
Adaptive Dark Mode
Safari can automatically apply Dark Mode to webpages that don’t support it natively. When you’re in Dark Mode and hit a page with a bright background, Safari will have a pop-up saying ‘Try Adaptive Dark Mode.’ Tapping it will render a Dark Mode version of the webpage.
However, for webpages that must be bright for some reason, developers can exclude their site from Adaptive Dark Mode.
This update is coming to iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.
Siri AI Actions
With Siri AI custom actions on Safari, you can ask the assistant to sort your tabs, move them around, sort, organize and close them by asking. Further, Siri AI is aware of your webpage and even other tabs, so if you’re shopping for shoes and land on a page with a pair you like, but have five other tabs open, you can ask Siri to compare the ones you’re looking at to the other ones on your tabs.
This feature is coming to Apple Intelligence-supported devices.
