Hope you weren't in the market for a Duo

Apple CEO John Ternus has just revealed that he doesn’t know when they will have a resupply of the popular iPhone Duo.

According to an interview with Reuters that was reported on by The Verge, Ternus said that the company is “working hard to get it to as many customers as possible,” but also said that it’s “not able to predict when supply and demand will be in balance.”

To add some context, Apple launched the foldable phone last month for $3,000, the most expensive smartphone in the country, but pre-orders quickly sold out, with wait times extending into late January 2027 for Canada. The Duo also saw a wide range of social media reports that screens were suddenly cracking, and that a piece in the hinge mechanism was protruding into the Duo’s screen’s folding area upon failure, causing the crack.

During the interview, Ternus addressed the screen issue, saying that a “very small percentage” of devices had been sent back to Apple for the problem and that the company is replacing them.

Ternus also discussed the company’s supply chain and rising memory costs during its Q4 2026 earnings call.  “What we’re seeing with memory pricing right now is unprecedented,” he said, adding that the company expects to see “even higher memory costs” during its December quarter, but that is “partly offset” by recent price increases.

Even without the standard iPhone 18 model, though, the company recorded record-breaking iPhone revenue of US$57.58 billion (approx. C$80.62 billion) in its fourth quarter.
