During the first few months of their service WIND created a “Port over offer” that gave customers $150 credit “to help offset the sting” of the Early Cancellation Fee to those who port over from another carrier.
Well.. it’s back. This time Wind has announced that it’s only for new customers who sign up for a Always Talk ($35/month) or the Always Shout ($45/month) plan and only targeted to Rogers, Fido and Chatr customers. The promo starts today and goes until August 15th. Wind also says in the fine print that “The $150 credit will be applied in $25 installments over 6 months, starting September 23, 2010.”
So Wind is gunning for Rogers. Targeting their brands and one of them has not even officially launched yet! Tony Lacavera, Chairman of Wind Mobile spoke about Rogers new Chatr brand in an interview last week and said that “I’m really excited about it and I’m ready to compete”. I guess this is how they are competing…
UPDATE: This is apparently available to all customers, not just Rogers, Chatr and Fido. It’s just the wording they chose to use that was a bit misleading.
