Update 15/03/16: Philips says it isn’t ready to reveal when its new Hue White Ambiance bulbs are coming to Canada.

Philips revealed today a new dimmable White Ambiance version of its Homekit-compatible ZiggBee-enabled smartbulb line.

The new Hue White Ambiance bulbs support warm and cool colour temperatures between 2,200k and 6,500k, and sports a brightness rating of 800 lumens at 4,000k. Similar to other Hue products, the White Ambiance starter kit comes with two bulbs, a 2.0 bridge hub, and a dimmer switch. While it hasn’t announced anything on the topic yet, it’s likely the bulbs will be sold separately as well.

Along with the new Hue White Ambiance bulbs, Philips also plans to release an update to its iOS app. After the update, the app will allow users to set wake up cycles that gradually increases the bulb’s brightness, as well as a sleep sessions that do the opposite.

Philips hasn’t said when the update is expected to rollout or when Hue White Ambiance will hit store shelves in Canada.

I checked out Philips’ Hue lightbulbs earlier this month (I’m currently testing out version 2.0) and was impressed with what the the ZigBee-enabled lightbulbs are capable of, though, not being able to use a traditional light switch is a hassle and a problem that’s difficult to navigate.
