It’s sort of ironic that Wikipedia chose to release its official Wikipedia app on the day it is choosing to “black out” in protest of SOPA and PIPA, but we’re happy it’s here nonetheless.
In addition to being able to view every article in mobile-friendly format, you can save them for offline use later. You can also use your GPS to search for nearby articles (like we saw in Wikitude). You can also share articles through the official Android channels, which is convenient.
Available in multiple languages, the Wikipedia for Android app can be downloaded now from the Android Marketplace.

Try the link in the article – it takes you to the official wikipedia app from the wikimedia foundation.
There are many wikipedia apps, but they aren’t from wikimedia.

oh the irony of releasing it on SOPA protest day! lol.
Happy this is finally here though. I’ve been using Wapedia as my wikipedia app for android. Let’s see how this holds up.

It was released on the 13th, not today. Irony averted.
