Poll: Which device are you most excited to get your hands on?

There are so many solid smartphones coming to Canada in the next few weeks – Q4 is shaping up to be another onslaught from various manufacturers and carriers. Many are still unknown, but several powerful, spec heavy devices have either leaked online or confirmed to be “coming soon”. To name a few: the upcoming Galaxy Nexus, Xperia ray, Galaxy S II X (Hercules), HTC Holiday (possibly launched with another name), Motorola RAZR and the Bold 9790. Lots of choice, but we’re curious which device are you most excited to get your hands on?

  3. I would include the Samsung Glide in this list as well. A lot of people wanting a good android keyboard slider…

But I voted Galaxy Nexus anyway. :)

    • Yeah. I was looking for a keyboard slider as well. If Apple came out with one, I would have voted for it.

  4. Hard to believe but Droid RAZR pique my interest the most what everyone hates about it, I liked, which was the design (with the specs to boast about too), which the Nexus didn’t appeal much to me, its looks exactly like the other Galaxy, which is boring.

    • no one hates the Razr. I think anyone that truly “hates” a phone is just doing it for the sake of flaming/ attention. The reviews so far for the Razr is actually pretty amazing. The exterior design of the phone is really turning heads. I’m glad they took a leap of faith and tried a new design. Aren’t you guys tired of the same old candybar design , like the Galaxy Nexus? It’s a powerful phone, the best even, but the exterior design is just boring.

  6. Galaxy Nexus. My Nexus S still impresses me with its awesomeness, and the next one doubles its specs and more.

I must say I’m not entirely convinced I love the 4.65″ screen size though. I’d have to fit it in a jeans pocket with a protective case first to try it.

    • I have a Nexus S as well, and can’t wait to get ICS on it, as it will be able to use the same features as the Galaxy Nexus. I would love to get the Galaxy Nexus, but still have a lot of use out of the Nexus S. With regards to specs, the screen and processor aside, both phones are very similar … Which is a good thing. Both are very sleek and powerful.

..the security- If the government doesn’t ask for Access to the servers!
And BBM- that’s irrelevant now with all the other options out there..

Let us know WHEN you actually can go to the store and buy it.

Or you can go and buy ANY other phone in the poll in three weeks.

      1. get a smart phone with your carrier with a high resale value (iphone 4s, SGS2)

      2. sell smartphone on kijiji or craigslist

      3. use funds from sale to buy the nexus prim outright

      4. enjoy

  13. I am torn between the RAZR and the NEXUS. Despite larger screen GN is the smaller device which is great! But Motorola certainly wins when it comes to build quality and materials used. Hope GN looks better than Nexus S..

If the Galaxy Nexus had external memory and 8mpix camera I would make it my ultimate choice but now its a balance between what is offered and what I really need.

  19. I went for the nexus as well the only thing I am worried about is the terrible benchmarks I have seen around the the net like a 1700 quadrant score which makes no sence to me how it could score so low other then the screen res must be making it show an incorrect result.

  24. I voted Nexus, but it depends… Can I have a Nexus that works on Canadian carriers?

The three biggest Canadian carriers are all moving to LTE with HSPA+ as a backup. Samsung/Google making me choose LTE OR HSPA+ (not both) is bogus. (Mind you, so is Samsung referring to HSPA+ as “4g”)

I want LTE speeds on my phone WITHOUT having to drop down to EDGE when I leave the city thanks….

    • I am not sure that the LTE Galaxy Nexus even supports EDGE. It might be a LTE/CDMA2000 version that can only works on Verizon.

Or there might be a GSM/HSPA/LTE version for Japan, South Korea and/or Europe but using incompatible LTE bands.

Only AT&T and Canadian carriers use the specific 850/1900 MHz for HSPA(and GSM for Rogers) and LTE 1700 (future 700).

Most of the world uses 2100 MHz for HSPA and 800, 1800, 2600 for LTE.

    • Also HSPA 21 Mbps is pretty quick. LTE is not as necessary when you have that speed. And at least you can get real coverage, unlike LTE.

    • Agree that 21mbps HSPA+ is pretty damn fast, but I like to be on at least a 2 year cycle for my phones, wanted LTE for futureproofing.

And no need for itunes would be awesome too. I’d rather update Iphone over the air, and all Iphone 5 come unlocked out of the box.

It cant be the screen resolution because the galaxy note has amazing scores across the board with higher specs i hope its just a mistake because i was really looking forward to the galaxy nexus.

  33. I said the RAZR because it’s intriguing. The poll was “get my hands on” not necessarily “want to use”. :)

Otherwise I’m torn, the SGII LTE for LTE speeds on Rogers, the SGIIx to use on TMobile and maybe Wind/Mobi (with an option for Robelus if the newbies’ speed/coverage is too slow), Nexus Prime for the screen, etc.

  44. I like how the Nexus S and now the Galaxy Nexus, both had the OS advantage but Samsung took a lil off the top in terms of hardware. They managed to prevent the Galaxy Nexus from being perfect, again. When compared to the S2, both Nexus phones have inferior display and camera. Also, why is Samsung pushing the screen size envelope. on all the new Galaxy S models? the original S2 with 4.27″ is my limit, beyond that

    Perfect phone = Galaxy S2(I9100) + ICS v4.0 + LTE + Bigger Battery
