This has good news written all over it. Tbooth (owned by GLENTEL) is heling the Canadian Cancer Society out in a big way. This weekend they will be opening their flagship store on Robson Street in Vancouver and will donate $5 to the CCS from every wireless device they sell. Then in July, along with RIM, all 295 GLENTEL owned locations (Tbooth, WirelessWave, Wireless etc) will keep the donations going with $5 from every BlackBerry device purchased going towards to CSS Camp Goodtimes. Over the past 2-years GLENTEL has raised over 1.4 million dollars for CCS and has a goal of exceeding 1.5 million.
Nice work.

Nice pr……but i’m pretty sure that’s their only intentions. If there is a nice bone in Glentel’s body, I have yet to find it.

Even if great PR is their main objective, the fact that they tied it with actual contributions to a worthwhile cause is commendable.
In fact, it’s just inspired me to change our fall marketing in a similar direction.

Money down the drain. The CCS doesn’t support real cancer research, they support Big Pharma, who has done nothing in the last 30 years to put a dent into curing cancer. There are many valid CURES that are not being funded because it would put the CCS out of business.
It makes me wonder why the CCS doesn’t have a “position” when it comes to eating meat and dairy when cancer links from animal products have been well established for many years – perhaps it’s because their sponsors sell these cancer-causing products? I believe so.
The Diabetes foundation is another scam – type 2 diabetes can be cured in less than 30 days, but they don’t tell their supporters that. “Keep ‘em sick, so we can get paid”.

Lost 3 friends already this year to cancer and I just, literally, found out a fourth friend has been diagnosed with liver and colon cancer. From a personal perspective this is a wonderful commitment from GLENTEL.

Most of the donations came from Roers, Fido and Bell.
A lot of the locations would use the “In Store Credit”.
For example:
$50.00 in store credit. Customer uses it for free accessories or a premium protection plan.
Let’s say $10 is left over, they won’ tell the customer. They will end up using the remainder of the balance towards a donation to Canadian Cancer Society.
Not all stores do it, but the majority who rake in $8000 dollars in Canadian Cancer Society in a month. That seems very unrealistic.
