WIND Motorola Milestone XT720 training doc surfaces
WIND has been rumoured to be bringing on the Android-powered Motorola Milestone XT720. We first saw this in an internal screenshot a few weeks ago… We’re not to sure the authenticity of this image but everything looks to be correct and seems that training has started.
Still no word on price points or when this will be released, early rumours have it launching during the week of September 23rd. Specs have this running OS 2.1, 3.7 inch display with a resolution of 480×854, WiFi, 8MP camera, auto-focus, flash and records HD 720p videos and can hold up to 32GB with a microSD card.
Nice to see Wind expanding their lineup and bringing on more powerful Android devices.

About time. Wind needs a high-end Smart Phone to stop the stigma of Wind just being another low-budget phone company that only sells budget phones.
Plus, they finally have a phone that they can actually promote in advertisements like Telus does with the HTC Desire and the Big 3 promote the iPhone 4.

Actually, to tell you the truth…when this phone releases on Wind, the HTC Desire and even the Samsung Galaxy S would still be better Abdroids then this.
I just read the review of it on gsmarena.com, and it’s not as good as motorola make it out to be:
1. 720p recording at 24fps, and its over saturation and high contrast, loses resoltuion, so its like a below-par 720p (Although takjing 8MP pictures is good, they even say it over-processes the image and the Xenon flash is a waste)
2. Only has a cortex A8 720MHz CPU with only 256MB of RAM. (Both the Desire and Galaxy S have 1GHz CPUs and at least 512MB of RAM. Although the XT720 has a dedicated PowerVR SGX accelerator, it will still run and perform sluggish, even while gaming)
3. No voice dialing or smart dialing (Even my HTC Hero has this)
4. All of its media players (music and video players) are outdated and are the same on the original MILESTONE.
5. Web browser with no flash support (until Froyo is updated on it)
So, I would still think the Desire would still be a better option by the time this comes out on WIND. But, WIND really needs a top-of-the-line smartphone thats not a BlackBerry Bold 9700…and this fills that void. Good goin WIND!

It has a keyboard though, which is a big selling point for many. Coming from a blackberry bold, I’m not exactly thrilled with the high end android options available at the moment.

It’s a decent phone. The processor is not the fastest, but it’s not the slowest either. It’s not quite clear how much RAM it has – different numbers are quoted on different sites. However, it has REAL Xenon flash (not the LED toy flash that’s on most phones) and it has HDMI output. The biggest question is how much Wind will charge for it. Anyone has a tip?

About the phone: It is good that WIND is providing more options for customers. People who want to be bleeding-edge will complain about the specs, but if the price is good considering the hardware it does have, then it is a “winner in my books”. Lol, what a corny saying. Anyway, if well cheaper than the other’s flagship Androids, it will be a nice device to slot in above the U8100.

It’s certainly not a bad device from what I’ve heard, but not the top of the line from Moto, and there is no hardware keyboard, which is too bad since there’s a real lack of decent Android devices with hardware qwerty here. I’d still choose the Desire or Vibrant over this personally, but it sounds like a pretty solid device.

Motorola sucks a*s. After first announcing they would release the Froyo update for the Milestone XT720 they have now decided NOT to release this important upgrade. If you own an XT720 call Motorola Customer Support at 800-734-5870 or their corporate office at 847-576-5000 and tell them what you think about their bad company decisions.
