Good news for owners of the recently launched Bell/Virgin HTC Legend or the upcoming TELUS HTC Desire. Seems like an upgrade to the latest Android OS is in the works. A statement released by HTC said “We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3.”
So hopefully everything goes well from a carrier testing standpoint and there will be no delays.

I lost all respect for HTC crippling the Dream to 1.5. Just to sucker people into another contract term with yet another crippled phone like the Magic. Not everyone can cough up $$$ dollars for a phone or wish to break their contracts when yet another android phone comes out in a month….meh

@joseph Google is realeasing the new OS.
Nothing in your contract said you were entitled to FREE software upgrade when you bought the phone.
This is what you get when you are an early adopter. Blaming HTC or Google because the rate of innovation is too fast is pretty foolish.
The hardware in these devices is outdated, it wasn’t even good when it first came out (especially the amount of Ram in the G1)
On a side note, why don’t you head over to XDA where you can install the wonderful CM5.08 with Android 2.1 or wait a week or two and install CM6 with 2.2.
I guess it’s easier to complain then readin and learning about the alternatives…

@Khav, there’s a good chance the Hero will be stuck at 2.1.
On a positive note, you should be able to head to XDA when your warranty is over or when the phone is just to slow for your taste and get a speedy 2.2 rom!

This is excellent, now if only Telus would actually release the Desire so I can upgrade to it and have a decent phone….

I might get the desire… Only after it gets the update. I’m not going to buy a phone in hopes that it’s going to be updated, cuse so far I’ve been out of luck when it comes to that…. I’m waiting out for a nexus 2
