BlackBerry Passport quickly shown on video

John Chen, BlackBerry’s CEO, unveiled two new BlackBerry 10-powered devices last week, the Passport and the Classic. The Passport will be available in September and the Classic, which was rumoured to be inspired by Drake, will be available in November.

Both of the smartphones have a QWERTY keyboard, but the Passport has a unique 3-row design, while the Classic rocks the 4-row QWERTY that made BlackBerry so popular at one time. In addition, the Classic brings back the familiar ‘belt’ with the menu, back, send and end navigation keys.

Chen did a number of interviews after the AGM on Thursday and BNN was given an exclusive where they captured a quick video demo of the Passport in action. Chen says the Passport is a cross between a phone and a phablet, with sporting a 4.5-inch 1440×1440 display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, a 13MP camera, 2MP front-facing camera, and a non-removable 3450 mAh battery.

There is no indication yet on the carrier partners, prices, or if either the Classic or Passport will be available to Canadians.
