CES has always been a playground for Corning to show off the next iteration of Gorilla Glass. This year, Corning wants to keep the world clean and rid the germs and bacteria that might form on your touchscreen display with “the world’s first antimicrobial cover glass solution with a built-in antimicrobial capability.”
What’s officially called the “Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass” is similar to previous versions by being durable and scratch resistant, but now has ionic silver embedded within the glass to fight off the growth of algae, mold, mildew, fungi, and bacteria.
Corning also notes that the Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass “is safe for humans and pets.” Unfortunately there’s no timeline of when this will be in-market.
