Google is a massive business and a money machine. Google announced their financial results for Q1 2011 today and their revenue increased by 27% from last year to hit $8.58 billion. As for Android specific news, Google’s Jeff Huber said the number of Android activations are upwards of 350,000 per day (an staggering number). Here’s something even more shocking… Huber stated the number of apps installed on devices has jumped by 50% since Q4 2010 to reach a stunning 3 billion.
Research firm IDC predicts that by the end of 2011 the Android platform will have 39.5% of the global market share and officially become the number one mobile OS in the world.
