We mentioned earlier this week that Bell would be the exclusive carrier of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet with LTE connectivity, and while this is true, Sony has also made this available unlocked at Sony Stores. The price points are $169.95 with the Bell Easy Purchase Tablet Plan, or no-term $650 for 16GB model.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet is dubbed as being the slimmest and lightest tablet in the world at 6.4mm thick and 439 grams. As a refresher, here’s the complete rundown of specs: 10.1-inch full HD Triluminos display (1920 x 1200 resolution), 8MP camera with Exmor RS image sensor, 2.3 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM and a 6000 mAh battery.

Have the Wi-Fi only version and it is spectacular! Blows everything else away.

    Xperia or nothing

I wouldn’t mind getting an LTE version of the Xperia Z2 Tablet but I don’t want to be locked in to Bell and/or have their bloatware on my device(s).

OR get the Surface Pro 3 with student discount for 699$, Corei3, 4 gb ram, 64 gigs (expandable to 192 gigs w/128 gig microsd card). You end up getting a tablet and “laptop” if you get the kayboard (also on sale with student discount). Then tether with your phone! Also, you can run bluestacks to emulate android on the surface pro (something I’ve been doing).

Yeah but the Z2 as better battery life and much easier to carry arround and if i remember correctly is waterproof.

    • wes

Better battery life? The Surface Pro 3 is suppose to last up to 9 hrs. Z2 might be a bit easier to carry around, but try working on Excel, photoshop, taxes, video editing etc. There’s a reason for everything. Surface Pro 3 is a PC in a tablet form, it is more versatile than most tablets!

13 hours of HD movies before it’s die.
9 to 10 hours of apps run time.
Pretty good for a tablet 1/4 the thickness.

I don’t know where you are getting your numbers from but the z2 is 6.4 mm and the sp3 is 9.1 mm. That’s not a 1/4 thickness. It’s 2/3 the thickness. Again sp3 is way more versatile than the z2. The z2 is running arm processor vs sp3 corei3,5,7. They can’t be compared if you are talking about programs. Sp3 can run games like BioShock, league of legend, steam, start craft 2, etc. Can the z2 do the same? Can you edit movies, pictures, run office on the Z2? They are different machines. Z2 is a toy compared with the sp3, and you are taking with a android supporter. Also with the sp3 you can run a virtual version of android, so you basically have a windows and android tablet in one machine.

      And drop it in water.
I don’t need an underpowered windows tablet I got a gaming laptop.
I also got a car so it’s no problem Taking it everywhere with me.

A tablet for me is for when I take a shower or go camping.
I can take it everywhere and don’t fear it’s will take dust and such.

Finally I like upgrading my windows computer hardware that’s impossible on the surface.

So stop trying to sell me your surface crap on a Z2 tablet comment section it’s won’t work.

Ps: many apps have issue with the bluestack emulation btw I got I have it on my laptop.

    • wes

Which occasion will you be dropping it in water? I’m not trying to sell you anything. I’m just staying that sp3 has more value and is more versatile for approximately the same price (sp3 corei3 student price vs Z2).

For those who don’t want bell and don’t care for the LTE, the 32gb version is 599 on the sony store.

I’d want to see a comparison between this tablet and Galaxy Tab S. I never liked any of Samsung’s previous tablets but GTS blew me away. The screen is magnificent and its light thin body is amazing. Also the display is slightly bigger than its predecessors. The only thing holding me back from Z2 Tablet is its screen resolution. It really should’ve been 1600p.

This tablet would be the best in 32 gig, this alone could get me too swith providers. In Canada we always get the cheaper Android version compared the the USA! I bought the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 given the Galaxy Tab S is only 16 gig and past of that are already filled up by Samsung/Google OS. The Galaxy Tab S is the best tablet for viewing movies, the black are black and the colors are so beautiful, is like having a plasma screen. I bought it and returned it even if I was wowed by the screen since I couldn’t even fit half my applications on it. It’s do amazing I would even trade my galaxy note 12.2 for an American galaxy tab s 32gig even this mine is worth 200 more.

16 gig on kit kat with the new Google policy on the use of the sd card is no good for person like me who has high demands on apps or media. Just in magazine of next issue takes up 6 gig, some games over 1 gig and so on. ….

    • marorun1982

Agreed this is why in Canada i always said the htc one m8 is Superior..
      32 gb onboard + 128 gb sd on htc m8 ( about 28 gb usable )
      16 gb onboard + 128 gb sd on S5 ( about 10 gb usable )
So smaller onboard memory and bigger crapware nice!
