Nova Launcher 1.0 released for Ice Cream Sandwich devices, is the best custom launcher on the platform

Nova Launcher by Teslacoil Software is one of the most feature-filled launcher replacements for Ice Cream Sandwich devices and has been in beta for a long time. Through 15 revisions the launcher got better and snappier, but largely maintained the same look and feel as the default one bundled with Android 4.0.

They’ve finally reached version 1.0 and are launching a free and paid version in the Android Marketplace. The free version has a lot of great features, including a scrolling dock and resizable widget support, but the $4 paid version adds custom gestures and the ability to hide apps in the drawer itself.

While Nova is only available for Android 4.0+ devices — so just over 1% of total Android users — it’s nice to know that once other devices are upgraded Nova will be there to save them from their custom skin dissatisfaction.

Check out Nova Launcher (free) and Nova Launcher Prime ($4) in the Marketplace.

HAHA good one! your comment is funny to someone.
Have fun changing the colour of your “live” tiles. Maybe a new background? new launcher? oh wait, you cant.

Nova Launcher is my favourite! :)

    ..I’ll stick to Launcher Pro.

Using it on my transformer prime and much better than the default launcher which doesn’t let me change the number of home screens….

I’d bet that most Androids are sporting some type of customized launcher….. What was that iPeople & WinPhonies….. Stock uh… sad.

I was torn between Nova and Apex. Nova won out just because of the things you could do with the sucker. NOW…I bought 1.0 Prime…wow. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

Now if I could just get my hands on a Note, with ICS, I could put it on there…HEAVEN!

Its nice to see that ICS is getting some custom launcher love, however I wonder how this compares to Apex Launcher which still is in beta but need to do adb to install.

I just ditched LauncherPro for NovaLauncher last night on my Nexus S. It’s like what I was waiting for, a cross between stock ICS launcher and LauncherPro. I’ll miss those LauncherPro widgets but seriously, LauncherPro hasn’t been updated in more than half a year which is eons in the mobile space.

I love this launcher a lot … now let’s see how TrebuchetLauncher compares with it when CyanogenMod releases it out of beta…

I normally don’t like 3rd party launchers, but this thing is awesome on my GS2!!! I’m even considering throwing it on my GNex also, even though I’ve already got Codename Android already on it. What a great launcher. :)
