Koodo to release the Samsung Galaxy Ace

Another Android-powered device is coming to our fine land, Koodo Mobile (and most likely TELUS) will be releasing the Samsung Galaxy Ace. This touchscreen is an entry-level Android that’s the “little brother” to say other more powerful spec’d Galaxy devices – like the upcoming Galaxy X. The Ace comes with a 3.5-inch display, OS 2.2 Froyo (might be bumped up to 2.3), 5 megapixel camera with a front facing camera, Wi-Fi and a 800 MHz processor. The price, according to this screenshot, is a respectable $200 outright. We’ll have more info and a launch date for you soon.

(Thanks tipster!)

  6. If Koodo (or Telus) sell it without contract (pay as you go at FS or Best Buy), it could be a good phone to unlock when discounted. Need to wait 2 months and it should be at 99$ outright. I paid 75$ for my girlfriend Gio (150$ is the normal price) and that’s a very good first-time smartphone.

But I’m still waiting for a very good phone for 300$ without contract to replace my 3GS. Still looking around. Something with 16gb internally and a 3.7-4.0″ screen. Maybe a Nexus S when the new Prime is out.

    • You’re right Sean, but it’s 350$ only with a new activation on Koodo and I still prefer unlocked right now. I’m with Fido with a very cheap plan and being unlocked help me deal for stuff.

Let’s hope the iPhone 4S will be 300$ like some rumours (that will surely be false) said.

  7. Is the middle button a D-Pad? If so, what is the purpose of that on an Android?

Just pointing that out. This is a great alternative to the LG Optimus One. :-)

  9. It looks awefully like an iphone. Middle button and all. No wonder Apple is suing.
