Vancouver and Toronto see bump in Tinder matches because of FIFA

Tinder has revealed details about how the FIFA World Cup 2026 has affected its users and host cities. This includes a notable increase in Vancouver during its Australia versus Turkey match.

Specifically, Vancouver has seen a 33 per cent increase in visitors compared to the same period last year. Most of the new visitors are from the U.S., Ireland, and Mexico, while domestic visitors are coming from Toronto, Calgary and Montreal.

The other host city in Canada, Toronto, on the other hand, has seen an increase of 16 per cent in visitors compared to the same period last year. Most international visitors are coming from the U.S, India and Mexico, while domestic visitors are coming from Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver.

Canada, in total, has seen an increase of 24 per cent in users, 32 per cent in swipes, and 66 per cent in matches, compared to the same period last year.

Tinder saw an average increase of 47 per cent among international users in host cities and a 22 per cent increase among domestic visitors.  Tinder said that resident activity stayed the same, so it was driven by visitors.

Tinder tracked host cities and match days across several matches, and here are the top increases per host city around each game.
