Canadian Honda and Acura EV drivers can now use Tesla chargers

After Tesla opened up its charging network to third-party vehicles, more and more automakers are getting on board, and Honda is the latest to do so. Honda approved its cars to work with Tesla chargers in the U.S. in March, and it’s taken seven months for the feature to hit Canada.

The Japanese automaker is relatively new to the EV game, with only two real EVs on the market–the Acura ZDX and the Honda Prologue. That said, both will work with Honda’s new $400 adapter, which it will sell at its dealerships.

You can also use third-party NACS-CCS DC adapters, but Honda won’t cover any issues under warranty.

If you have one of these cars and an adapter, you will also need to download the Tesla app to interface with the chargers. Honda says that it’s working to allow drivers to use the chargers directly from its own app, but that’s still in development.

The final news the automaker shared today was that its drivers can now use Google Maps to locate Tesla chargers in the cars mentioned above.

Tesla opened a small portion of its supercharger network to third-party vehicles near the end of 2023, and since then, even more automakers have started selling adapters to allow their cars to work on the Tesla network.
