HMD Global reveals Nokia X6, an affordable midrange handset that’s not coming to Canada

HMD Global has officially revealed the Nokia X6 smartphone.

Nokia handsets are not sold through carrier channels in Canada, and this one in particular is designed for the Chinese market. Still, it’s impossible not to be curious about the handsets this newly reborn brand produces, so here’s a run-down on specs.

The device sports a Snapdragon 636 chipset, up to 6GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and comes with minimal software changes. The X6 features a 3,060mAh battery and offers a 5.8-inch 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution display with a 19:9 aspect ratio.

Camera-wise, the X6 has a dual-camera setup with a 16-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel monochrome sensor. The selfie shooter also features a 16-megapixel sensor. All three use f/2.0 aperture lenses.

The 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage model retails at ¥1,299 ($261.32 CAD) while the 4GB of RAM, 64GB model costs ¥1,499 ($301). Lastly, the 6GB of RAM, 32GB of storage variant costs ¥1,699 ($341).

The device is only available for pre-order in China. It’s unknown where else the device will ship, or when it is set to officially launch.

Canada Computers sells devices like the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5, so it’s possible, though highly unlikely, that the retailer will also sell the X6. Amazon is also known to sell HMD Global devices, either directly, or through third party sellers.
