Motorola unveiled the new Moto 360 today, the successor to “the most successful Android Wear watch ever launched.”
The product comes in two sizes, 46mm and 42mm, both of which have exposed lugs and a relocated power button. The men’s line features a new yellow gold case in addition to the familiar silver and black versions, along with new leather strap colours.
Acknowledging an underserved market, Motorola has also unveiled a women’s line of the Moto 360 in 42mm sizes, with thinner watch bands and cases available in rose gold and stainless steel.
All the new Moto 360 models are outfitted with aircraft-grade 316L stainless steel, and are IP67 certified for water resistance and dust proofing. The sharper LCD displays are also covered with Gorilla Glass 3.
Finally, the new Moto 360 is powered by Android Wear 1.3 and brings compatibility with iPhone for those using the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.2 and above.
While there are customization options available through Moto Maker, we Canadians are not able to partake. The company noted that Moto Maker for the new Moto 360 is available in the United States, Mexico, united Kingdom, France and Germany, but “other markets may be announced in the future.”
As for Canadian availability, the new Moto 360 will be available at the end of September at Telus, Best Buy and Google’s online store. Depending on the model you select, the prices will range from $379.99 to $499.99 CDN.
