AI smart glasses recalled in Canada over burn risk

Owners of a particular lot of AI smart glasses are advised to stop wearing them due to the risk of being burned.

Health Canada issued a recall notice Thursday for INMO AIR3 Smart Glasses. The product is black and has “AIR3” and “INMO” printed on a label on the inside of the right arm.

According to the notice, the left temple of the glasses can overheat during extended use, posing a serious risk of injury, including burns.

The affected products were sold between December 2025 and August 2026. The company reported that 120 units were sold in Canada and 1,643 in the U.S.

Consumers may have purchased the glasses, listed between $900 and $1,300, on Amazon, Kickstarter, or INMO’s website.

“Immediately stop using the recalled product,” states the recall notice. “Update the product firmware to version 3.16 before reusing the product.”

The INMO AIR3 glasses are designed to combine the features of smart glasses, wireless audio, and an AI assistant. The glasses can also stream media and use AI-powered features to help with translation, productivity, and other tasks.

The glasses have four built-in microphones for voice commands and calls, and two open-air speakers to deliver audio.

The recall comes as AI-powered glasses are becoming increasingly popular, while also prompting privacy concerns and debate over their use in public spaces.

In Western Australia, for example, the government recently announced a ban on smart glasses in public schools, citing concerns around their use in educational settings. Meanwhile, a number of Canadian cities and businesses are considering banning the devices.
