LG G4 Vigor makes its Canadian debut, now available at Videotron, SaskTel and Virgin

The LG G4 Vigor has quietly been released in Canada today, available at Videotron, SaskTel and Virgin Mobile.

As with the G3 Vigor, which was released only five months ago, the G4 Vigor is a smaller, toned-down version of the company’s flagship.

The mid-range Android device runs 5.1.1 Lollipop with LG’s improved user interface that debuted on the G4. Featuring a 5.2-inch 1920×1080 pixel IPS LCD display, it’s a big improvement over the G3 Vigor (and, ironically, the same resolution as the G2 released in 2013). The 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor is the same one found in the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 and Moto X Play, and it is coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. LG also promises excellent imaging performance with the 8MP rear camera, which features the same Colour Spectrum sensor and manual mode options as the more expensive G4. The front-facing camera has also improved over the G3 Vigor to 5MP. Video-wise, the device can capture 1080p video at 30fps.

Unfortunately, the G4 Vigor has a smaller battery than its predecessor. The removable 2,300mAh cell is some 240mAh smaller than that of the G3 Vigor, but that is the only regression in this phone, which happens to be slightly thinner, too.

Pricing for the G4 Vigor at Videotron is $329.95 outright, or as low as $29.99 on a 2-year term. Virgin Mobile is offering a different pricing strategy at $349.99 no-term and $0 on a 2-year contract. SaskTel has yet to list pricing but it will be available today.
