Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will reportedly receive camera improvements with Android 5.1.1

Galaxy S6

Perhaps feeling a bit of pressure from the LG G4’s exceptional camera, Samsung is reportedly bringing several camera improvements to the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

According to SamMobile, the two phones will gain access to Google’s full Lollipop camera API when they’re updated to Android 5.1.1. Right now, the Camera2 API is accessible via third-party apps like Manual Camera, but its own manual settings are limited.

If true, this means that both phones will gain the added ability to shot in RAW format, as well as several other improvements like manual shutter control within the regular Samsung camera app.

We’ll have to wait and see if SamMobile’s source is accurate, and when Samsung decides to deploy the update in Canada.
