New HTC One to sport familiar design, enormous camera: leak

With MWC just a over a month away, we’re starting to hear more about devices rumoured to be launching at the mobile conference in Barcelona, Spain. Among them is said to the new HTC One, a followup to the One M8, which was launched in March of last year.

Though HTC didn’t announce the M8 at MWC (it held a separate event in New York City about a month later), signs point to an MWC unveiling for the company’s newest flagship, and word got out yesterday that the company was planning to unveil the One M9 as well as a smartwatch in Barcelona. Last week, HTC sent out invitations for a March 1st event at MWC.

Today brings us more news on the new HTC One. French site NowhereElse has what it claims are photos of the device. As you can see, it’s aesthetically very similar to the M8, but we can see that HTC appears to have shaken things up with the camera. It’s hard to tell because of cropping, but it looks like HTC might be dropping its dual camera set up for the One M9.

The photos can’t tell us much else, but previous rumours suggest the device will pack a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 along with 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP rear-facing camera, an UltraPixel camera up front, Android 5.0 Lollipop, and its own Sense 7 UI. The new One is said to be roughly the same size as the M8 and will allegedly feature a 5-inch 1080p display, though specific dimensions of the device are not yet known.
