Google: 89.8% of all Android devices run OS 2.1 or higher

Google has released the latest Android OS stats – again showing that OS 2.1 Eclair (31.4%) and 2.2 Froyo (57.6%) make up the majority of what people are using worldwide. The good news is that OS 2.1 is falling as it was at 35.2% in January. Combined they total 89%… an increase of 6% which means new devices were released and existing devices were upgraded. Android 2.3 Gingerbread also increased by 0.4% to hit 0.8% which indicates that Nexus S sales are happening. Us Canadians should be receiving the Nexus S within the next few weeks (available on Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Mobilicity).
