2009 BlackBerry Developer Challenge now on!

blackberryThe BlackBerry Partners Fund has officially opened the BlackBerry Developer Challenge today. This is the second year of the contest and was created for BlackBerry developers that have created their own BlackBerry applications.

The winners of the 2008 BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge were Calgary-based Multiplied Media, Strands Inc. and Nobex Technologies.

The Challenge starts today to 11:59 P.M. (EST) September 25, 2009. Sixteen finalists will be selected over the contest period that follow this criteria in mind: Compelling product or service, Clearly defined value proposition, Viable business model,  Technical execution and Quality of demonstration and presentation.

The 16 finalists will each receive a $5,000 prize package and be invited to compete for a grand prize package valued at over US$100,000. The 16 “will have five (5) minutes to present and demo to the panel and appropriate time for questions and answers” at the BlackBerry Developers Conference, November 9 – 11 in San Francisco, with the winners announced during the keynote presentation on November 10th.
