LG Masterpiece Video Review

With a name like Masterpiece you can expect a phone to be somewhat of a marvel to look at. You know like a Van Gogh or a perfectly bbq’d burger… but when it comes to cell phones, LG released its “Masterpiece” last week with TELUS.

The name is a stretch but fits the device if you’re looking for a upscale very basic entry phone. The Masterpiece is a candy bar style phones and the design has a been kicked up a slight notch with an added fashion grip on the back. The full aluminum band that encompasses the entire phone makes this a bit desirable. The keys are layed out nice but since this is such a small device you might get a bit frustrated text messaging (Maximum number of characters is 1,000). But dialing numbers or receiving calls will not be an issue. The call quality was not an issue, people could hear us clearly without any background noises.

A key feature of the Masterpiece is its overall dimensions: 109.5mm x 47.5mm x 9.9 mm and weighs in at an ultra light 83 grams. However, past the design there is nothing much that makes this phone stand out. The 1.3 megapixel camera (no flash) gives OK quality, but in direct sunlight your pics won’t even show up. Plus when it comes to your memory… there’s no place to put extra memory so you will find yourself limited very quickly. On a plus, the speakers (located on the back) are very good and loud. The Masterpiece has a 2.5mm headset jack.

Honestly, if you’re looking for a basic entry phone that looks good and can handle your contacts, calendar, make and receive calls, do text messaging and take a few pics…this should be one to consider. Check out the video review here:

The LG Masterpiece is available on the following price plans:
3-year contract: $49.99
2-year contract: $149.99
1-year contract: $199.99
No contract: $299.99

    1. Seriously what a joke. This phone is not worth 299.99$ outright! This should be a freebie phone on contract as well.

    2. Just got this phone a couple days ago. Just wanted to say im really happy with it. it was free on a 2 year from telus. its a simple phone, all a want really, but lg got everything right. the menu is set up very smart, feels good to hold, easy to use. its got the vibrate mode for the menustick which i think just makes the phone.
not that i use the camera but its pretty crappy, also the the covering for the battery moves a small bit but other than that i love it.

    3. I only bought the phone a few hours ago, and there’s only one thing I have to complain about so far. Whenever I receive a text message, an automated voice will read out the name of the person who is trying to message me. I can’t figure out how to turn this feature off. Other than that, this phone is good for anyone who likes a compact phone that handles calls and tasks appropriately. If anyone can help me with the automated voice, I would appreciate it.
