The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is headed back to the six, as the company has announced that UFC 336 will be held at Scotiabank Arena on Jan. 30.
This marks the first time the company has hosted an event in Toronto since 2024, when UFC 297 saw Dricus Du Plessis face off against Sean Strickland. It will be the UFC’s eighth time in Toronto since 2011, and the 39th in Canada.
As expected, there is no announcement yet on who will be on the card, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Burlington, Ontario native Mike Malott is on it. It will also most likely be filled with Canadians, although there are a lot of rumoured star-studded fights for the card, so be on the lookout for that.
The first of many
Now, let’s shift over to the more important stuff: how you can watch it.
The event will be the first of the new year, and the first under the new Paramount+ deal that the UFC signed earlier this year, which means you can watch the main fight on the streaming platform, no pay-per-view needed.
However, it’s a bit of a confusing setup. Any Fight Night events and preliminary fights will still be on Sportsnet/TVA because of contractual obligations between the two. However, what used to be $69.99 will now be streamable on Paramount+.
Tying in to what I said earlier about who is fighting, it would make sense for this card to be more star-studded than more recent Canadian cards, due to the fact that this would be the first one on Paramount+, and it makes sense business-wise to have this be a highly anticipated numbered card in order to drive memberships.
Tickets for UFC 336 in Toronto will go on sale in a month’s time (Nov. 20), but the good news is the fight will be much easier to watch.
