Google’s AR doodling app is now multiplayer

Drawing in AR is more fun with friends

Back in March Google launched an app called Just a Line that lets users draw in AR.

While the app was already really fun, Google made it a lot better today when it added the ability for two people to draw together.

To start drawing with a friend, both phones have to be beside each other and pointed at the same thing. After a few moments, the phones will connect and two people can draw together.

Any Android phone that supports ARCore, along with the latest iPhones, will be able to multiplayer doodle.

The app seems a bit like a proof of concept, since it only lets users draw in white, but it’s still a fun way to spend some time seeing what you can create.

The new technology that allows this to work is called ARCore’s Cloud Anchors. Anchors allow apps to create a common frame of reference on more than one device, so two or more people can be inside of the same augmented reality.

The app can be downloaded on iOS here and Android here.
