Long holiday lineups at the Beer Store may soon be a thing of the past.
After a soft launch in June, the Mississauga-based beer distributor is rolling out its Beer Xpress e-commerce platform at a greater number of Beer Store retail locations across Ontario, including ones in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, St. Catharines and Ottawa.
Like Ritual and other similar apps, Beer Xpress allows consumers to order and pay for product ahead of time. They can then visit a local Beer Store location to pick up their alcohol without waiting in line.
Unlike those apps, Beer Xpress is currently a web-only experience; there’s no accompanying iOS or Android app yet.
Creating an account allows users to store their credit card information and favourite beers to make future purchases faster.
The list of Beer Store locations that currently support the platform, as well as a list of their stock, can be found here. No Beer Store locations in Toronto support the functionality yet.
The LCBO launched its own e-commerce platform this past summer, as well.
