Videotron’s new app lets you manage your Wi-Fi network from your phone

Videotron has launched a new app that allows its customers to manage their Wi-Fi network straight from a phone or tablet.

The app contains a wide range of tools, including features that allow subscribers to configure the basic settings of their router and network, change the network name and password, and create guest access for visitors.

Subscribers can also view the use of bandwidth from all connected devices in their home network and manage the internet access schedules of each device through parental control settings.

Several troubleshooting tools are available too, including a network mapping feature that lets users view the signal strength of individual devices in real time, a diagnostic feature that provides a debug report, and a speed testing tool.

As for compatibility, the app is available for Android OS 4.4.2 or later, and iOS 8.1.2 or later.

Videotron also lists a handful of devices that might not work with the app, including the Samsung Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Alacatel One Touch OT768.

In addition, the company states that the app functions with Router ZyXEL EMG2926 on v1.00 (AAQT.4) b4 firmware or higher, and may not work if the router is configured in access point mode with fixed IP.
