Industry Canada says you should #CallYourMother

Industry Canada today took a break from auctioning spectrum and mandating the reduction of roaming charges to remind Canadians to call their mothers this weekend.

“We use smartphones to text more than talk,” said the organization’s Twitter account. “How will you wish your mom a #HappyMothersDay?”

Indeed, Canadians do use their phones to send a significant number of texts—more than 100 billion each year, to be exact; that’s not even including the messages sent with services like iMessage, BBM, Kik, or WhatsApp.

Still, Mobilesyrup agrees with Industry Canada: if anyone deserves at a phone call this weekend, it’s the wonderful woman that helped bring you into this world.
