LG has announced what it considers its first “all-metal luxury Android Wear device,” a variant of the circular G Watch R called the LG Watch Urbane.
With the device undoubtedly meant to meet the Apple Watch at its higher-than-average smartwatch price, LG is putting all of its miniaturized technological innovations in a single place. ‘Urbane’ sports the same Plastic OLED display as the G Watch R, a Snapdragon 400 chip and 512MB of RAM, as well as a heart rate sensor and 410mAh battery.
Of course, it’s the material on the outside that is meant to catch eyes. The stainless steel body comes in both gold and silver finishes, and the replaceable 22mm leather strap can be adorned with a metal one if desirable.
It’s unclear, other than the premium materials, why one would choose the LG Watch Urbane over the G Watch R, but more will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress.
