VLC has been available on Android for more than two years, but the app has been in beta since it debuted on the Play Store in the middle of 2012. Today, VLC pushed live an update that removes the beta tag once and for all and puts VLC for Android at version 1.0.0.
This new version comes roughly three months after v0.9.9 and brings fixes for crashing on Android 5.0 Lollipop, as well as fixes for unspecified issues with ARMv8 processors. We expect more information on this update once VideoLAN makes the full release notes available.
VLC for Android is compatible with any device running Android 2.1 and up.
