Fans of Aviate, the popular Android launcher replacement that Yahoo purchased in January, use a lot of apps. While a recent survey of US smartphone users found that most people download no apps per month, and most spend a majority of their time in a single one, Aviate’s early adopter Android user base turns that expectation on its head.
The average Aviate user has 95 apps installed, and use 35 different ones every day. Peak app usage is at 7pm, with an average of six per hour, dropping to one per hour at 3am. Netflix usage peaks at 10pm, but Facebook, which is the most popular app throughout the day, picks up after 6pm when people get home from work.
Speaking of transportation, Google Maps usage spikes during rush hour, spiking at 5pm and dropping quickly after 8pm. Weather, calendar, finance and productivity app usage tends to be higher in the morning, with small bumps during working hours. Entertainment apps, unsurprisingly, spike in the evening.
And what about phone calls? People still make them, occasionally, mainly during working hours.
