The CRTC has officially confirmed that two Broadband Fund projects from both Rogers and Telus are complete and are now providing service.
The first project, which was completed for Rogers, is located in Bruce Station, Ontario — not far from Sault Ste. Marie. Completed on July 17, 2026, the site required about 1.8 km of fibre transport infrastructure and was originally approved for up to $131,474 in CRTC funding. The site also upgraded the local network point with up to 10 Gbps of transport capacity.
The second project, completed for Telus, is located in central interior British Columbia. Completed on Aug. 27, 2026, this site required around $9.7 million of Broadband Fund support. It adds 119km of mobile coverage along Highway 20, infrastructure serving roughly 751 households, and improved fibre, fixed wireless, and mobile connections across both rural and Indigenous communities.
This includes communities like Alexis Creek, Anahim Lake, Chilanko Forks, Hanceville, Kleena Kleene, Nimpo Lake, Riske Creek, Tatla Lake, and many First Nations communities.
It’s worth noting that these are not new funding announcements, as these projects were previously approved. Instead, the CRTC has accepted the final implementation reports and confirmed that the funding infrastructure is complete and broadband services are now being offered in those areas.
However, the CRTC is holding back part of the funding until both Rogers and Telus prove the network has operated for a full year while meeting the previously agreed-upon conditions attached to the project.
