Siri could become more capable and get a new voice at WWDC 2018

It also looks like Apple has plans to release a new version of the HomePod

Apple’s own voice assistant seems to be leaking information about the tech giant’s upcoming World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC).

According to the virtual assistant itself, Siri could be getting a new voice and an additional, likely more affordable version of Apple’s HomePod, could be on the way as well.

To hear the leak yourself, just as Siri what to expect from this year’s WWDC. Siri will respond by saying, “La la la, Siri is getting a brand new voice.”

The virtual assistant also says that it will have a new “home” soon, when asked for more information about WWDC.

“I’m gonna have a shiny new home! Well, not really shiny, more meshy and matte,” says the voice activated assistant, indicating that a new HomePod-like device is on the way. Little is known about this device beyond the fact that it’s likely set to be Beats-branded. Apple purchased beats back in 2014 for $3 billion USD.

Apple’s first-generation HomePod still has not made its way to Canada, though given Google’s high-end Max speaker recently released here, it’s likely that the HomePod will follow suite soon.

Occasionally when asked about WWDC 2018, Siri also says, “I don’t want to brag, but I’m getting a lot smarter. It must be all that late night studying I’ve been doing.”

Given that Siri lags behind Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant in nearly every category but security, it’s good news that Apple plans to add new features to its beleaguered voice-activated assistant. However, it’s unclear exactly what Apple has planned for Siri in terms of new functionality.

We’ll have more on WWDC when the even starts on June 4th at 10AM PT/1PM ET.
