Google has announced that its voice-activated Assistant is now compatible with more than 5,000 smart home devices.
The company says this is a marked increase since January, when Assistant was compatible with 1,500 devices.
According to Google, Assistant is now on “every major device brand in the U.S.,” including “cameras, dishwashers, doorbells, dryers, lights, plugs, thermostats, security systems, switches, vacuums, washers, fans, locks, sensors, heaters, AC units, air purifiers, refrigerators, [and] ovens.”
By comparison, competitor Apple’s HomeKit currently supports just under 200 devices, according to the tech giant’s website.
The announcement comes one week ahead of Google’s major annual I/O developer conference, which will take place from May 8th to 10th. Find out what to expect from the event here.
