Niantic updates its EX and standard Raid Battle features in Pokémon Go

Pokemon Go

Niantic says its listening to its fans following an update to Pokémon Go’s raid battle feature.

First off, EX Raid Battles — Exclusive Raid Battles in order to capture legendary Pokémon — will take place mostly at gyms found in parks and sponsored locations.  Trainers with a high-level gym badge and with a large number of standard raid battles under their belt will be invited to more EX Raid Battles. EX Raid Battles will take into account popular raid battle times at gyms and if it’s cancelled, trainers will get an in-game notification as well as Stardust and Premium Raid Passes.

These changes were made due to the EX Raid Battle field tests that were conducted. Many trainers notified Niantic regarding the difficulty of participating in EX Raid Battles due to the specific times, or locations. Making the EX Raid Battles in public places also make it more accessible for trainers.

Standard Raid Battles have also changed within Pokémon Go. Trainers will now receive Golden Razz Berries for completing Raid Battles, however, the number of Potions and Revives that will be awarded to trainers for completing a Raid Battle will decrease.

Magikarp will again be awarded for Tier 1 Raid Battles, while the likelihood of receiving Fast and Charged Technical Machines will be awarded for completing a Tier 3 or higher Raid Battle will increase.

Niantic says it has done this so that trainers feel more accomplished after completing a Raid Battles due to better rewards.
