Toronto’s Mayor John Tory has announced that the week of April 9th to the 15th 2017 is 9-1-1 Telecommunicators week. The week is a celebration of the police, fire and paramedic services that answer the emergency calls of the residents of Toronto.

Mayor Tory explains that the actions of the 9-1-1 Telecommunicators make the difference between life and death and these committed men and women deserve the appreciation and recognition of Torontonians for their dedicated service.
This week, however, isn’t the first time Torontonians have celebrated emergency responders. This is Mayor Tory’s third year making this proclamation, however, 2017 marks the first year that 9-1-1 Telecommunicators week goes from the Sunday to Saturday.
The week also coincides with the National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week for emergency respondents around Canada.
