Twitter wants you to use it as a chat app

Twitter wants to make it more compelling than ever for Canadian users to slide into the DMs.

The company’s Canadian outpost announced today Twitter’s direct message functionality has been updated to support read receipts, live typing indicators and native URL previews. Essentially, these changes turn Twitter into a chat app. Granted, Facebook Messenger (and other chat apps) have had this functionality for some time now.
