Newmarket, Ontario woman charged with firing pellet gun at Pokémon Go players

A Newmarket, Ontario woman has been charged with shooting a pellet-gun at a group of people playing Pokémon Go on Saturday.

York Regional Police say they received a report at about 10:30 p.m. regarding a woman firing at people playing Pokémon Go near Newmarket’s Main Street South and Water Street.

Witnesses reportedly saw a woman shooting from the rooftop of an apartment building. Officers responded by entering the apartment unit and seizing the pellet gun. At least four shots were reportedly fired at players, though no one was hit or injured by the projectiles.

The woman in question has been charged with assault with a weapon as well as possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
