Google Chrome passes 1 billion mobile users

Today, Google announced that Chrome has reached one billion active users across Android and iOS.

Just five months ago, the tech giant announced its browser app had reached the lofty goal of 800 million users, meaning that Google has managed to attract another 200 million users to Chrome for Android and iOS in a measly five months.

The mobile app was debuted less than four years ago. Released alongside these numbers was Chrome Version 50, the latest version of Chrome for Windows, Mac and Linux which adds a whole slew of new developer features.

In addition to the user stats around Chrome’s mobile apps, here are some of the things Google wants you to know about the browser.

Chrome loads over 771 billion pages each month. Google also revealed that it saves its users over 500 billion characters of typing each month thanks to search autocomplete. 2 million gigabytes less of data are used each month thanks to Chrome’s data-saving features.

Furthermore, users were protected from malicious attacks over 145 million times each month thanks to Chrome’s smart warnings.

According to a report by VentureBeat’s Emil Protalinski, Chrome as a browser passed 1 billion users last May, meaning that the number of total Chrome users has grown significantly since then.
