Sprint rolling out Android 5.1 to Nexus 6 users starting today

Earlier this week, Google announced the Android 5.1 update with factory images arriving for several older Nexus devices soon after. Unfortunately, the Nexus 6 was missing from that list so users of Google’s newest Nexus phone couldn’t download and play with the latest update. That should all change starting today, though.

PocketNow points to Sprint’s support pages, which indicate that the U.S. carrier is preparing to roll out 5.1 to Nexus 6 users starting today. Titled, “Find and update the software version on your Nexus 6,” Sprint advises that the updates may be released in stages and it could take several days for users to see the OTA update.

Earlier this week, T-Mobile USA noted that the rollout of Android 5.1 for Nexus 5 users would start March 9th. Soon after, Google officially announced the update on its blog, though it’s not clear how widespread OTA updates are at the moment. Hopefully Canadians will see the update arrive on their Nexus 6 soon.
