Gmail for iOS adds ability to archive and respond from notifications

Google may be working on bringing its new Inbox for Gmail application to more users but the company hasn’t forgotten about fans of the plain, old vanilla version of Gmail either.

Today brings an update for Gmail on iOS that boosts this app to version 4.0. Users can now ‘quick action’ a message by archiving or replying directly from notifications. There’s also the ability to attach photos and documents to a Gmail message from within other applications (via the ‘share’ icon) and a brand new attachment view that allows you to open Gmail attachments in any app.

Optimized for the iPhones 5, 6 and 6 Plus, you’ll need iOS 7.1 or later to run Gmail 4.0.
