Back in October, Intel-owned Basis introduced us to the Peak, a fitness and sleep tracker with an always-on heart rate monitor. In late November, the company confirmed plans to bring the Basis Peak to Canada in time for the holiday shopping season.
Roughly two weeks later, the Basis Peak has appeared for sale online at Best Buy Canada and Future Shop. Unfortunately, at $299.99, it’s a full hundred dollars more expensive than the American version. Shoppers do have the choice of either black and red or white, though, so that’s something.
The Peak boasts a four day battery thanks to its eink display and uses companion apps to show steps, calories burned, sleep, and data from Basis’s own BodyIQ, which leverages the watch’s sensors to log energy burned during sleep and other activities. The watch will also try to help you build healthier habits with a feature that reminds you to move around regularly or go to bed at a consistent time every night.
