Remember that time Apple blamed iPhone signal issues on how people were holding the phone?
Believe it or not, that was 16 years ago (oh my god, I’m getting old!) with the iPhone 4. ‘Antennagate’ was quite the story at the time, and it’s making a comeback after a recording of Apple’s 47-minute Q&A session with reporters showed up on YouTube.
Spotted by Daring Fireball’s John Gruber (who also attended the press conference all the way back on July 16, 2010), this recording seems to be the first video of the Q&A portion itself.
The press conference included a prepared presentation from Steve Jobs that lasted about 30 minutes, followed by the lengthy Q&A session with Jobs, then COO Tim Cook (who just handed over the CEO role to John Ternus), and hardware chief Bob Mansfield.
The prepared presentation has been available online for a while, initially hosted by Apple itself, but after the company removed it, various copies floated around YouTube. But according to Gruber, all the videos cut off before the Q&A portion. That makes this video particularly notable, especially for the way it shows Jobs’ thoughtfulness when answering questions.
Unfortunately, it’s not entirely clear where this recording originated from, or how this YouTube channel got hold of it. But whatever the answers are there, it’s worth a watch.
