Meta has launched its Ray-Ban Display glasses in Canada.
The company confirmed the expansion during its Meta Connect 2026 keynote in California. The smart glasses debuted in the U.S. last fall and were slated to come to Canada in early 2026 but were later delayed due to “unprecedented demand.” Now, the glasses are available in Canada for $1,149 from Meta’s website.
As the name suggests, the Meta Ray-Ban Display take the framework of the standard AI-powered Ray-Ban glasses and add a virtual screen with which you can interact. To start, you attach the included Meta Neural Band, which is an electromyography (EMG) wristband that tracks your gestures based on muscle activity. From there, you can swipe and pinch your fingers in different directions — no direct interaction with the virtual screen or your phone required.
At Meta Connect 2026, the company also announced some new features for the Ray-Ban Display. These include cycling and public transit directions, which are coming to the U.S. and Canada later this month, as well as more natural turn-by-turn navigation based on the world around you (for instance, saying to turn left at the yellow house instead of “turn left at Third Street”).
The company also teased Holograms, a new version of its long-gestating Codec Avatars that create digital versions of you for hands-free video calls. After a short self-capture process in the Meta AI app, your avatar will be created that can be displayed during calls from the Ray-Ban Display. All you have to do is talk and Meta AI will feed your voice through the animated and photorealistic hologram. The idea, Meta says, is to allow you carry out activities like walking your dog or cooking while still letting the person you’re talking to see your face.
Meta says Hologram will begin rolling out in early access on WhatsApp to Display users in the U.S. this fall, although it’s unclear when it might expand to Canada.
