Canada joins the Eurovision Song Contest, and you can join, too, if you have the skills.
Eurovision, which has hosted the contest since 1956, is a song competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Last year, CBC/Radio-Canada officially became a member of the EBU in June 2026, making Canada eligible to compete in Eurovision.
Applications are officially open for artists hoping to represent Canada. CBC says it’s “seeking a magnetic Canadian performer with an established career and a proven track record of captivating large live audiences, who is fully prepared to commit to this historic moment and the extraordinary adventure of the Eurovision Song Contest.”
Artist selection criteria and guidelines are available on the CBC Radio Canada website, with the registration period beginning on Wednesday, September 9.
