EB Games Canada to get Nintendo’s first store-within-a-store in North America

EB Games Canada will become the home of Nintendo’s first-ever store-within-a-store in North America.

The 1,500 sq. ft. space will open at EB Games’ flagship location at 267 Yonge Street in Toronto. The permanent store will feature Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software, playable demos, merchandise and photo opportunities. The space will also sell Nintendo’s line of My Mario products for young children, some of which will be exclusive to EB Games in Canada.

EB Games’ Nintendo space will officially open on Sat., Oct. 17 following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. It should be noted that while this is Nintendo’s first “store-within-a-store” in North America, the U.S. has two dedicated Nintendo Stores in New York City and San Francisco.

The Nintendo store partnership comes just over a year after EB Games Canada was bought from GameStop by French-Canadian entrepreneur Stephan Tetrault, the co-owner of McFarlane Toys. Under the new Canadian ownership, the retailer returned to the EB Games Canada branding and promised to “return to its roots with a fresh identity that merges classic elements with modern retail experiences.” Naturally, the Nintendo store is part of that.

The new Nintendo space also comes right on time for the holiday season. Outside of already released 2026 games like Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Mario Tennis Fever, Pokémon Pokopia and the Star Fox remake, Nintendo still has two more Switch exclusives on the way: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (Oct. 22) and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake (Nov. 5). A Zelda-themed special edition Switch 2 console is also releasing on Oct. 29, but naturally, that’s been in hot demand and has already been selling out pre-orders.
